Mike's Background: More than three decades of insurance marketing, including work as a door to door debit salesperson, regional marketing manager and association marketing manager for national insurance organizations. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Hagan Benefits, Inc. - Sioux Falls, SD Founder and President - (1985 - Present) Upon its founding, our company consisted of three employees and a core business of serving association groups. Hagan Benefits quickly expanded into the administration of risk retention liability and workers' compensation programs for cities and counties, fully insured health, life, disability, dental and prescription drug programs, as well as property and casualty division and pension services. My previous experience created a great deal of opportunity for Hagan Benefits, Inc. One particular achievement came in 1986 when Attorney General Mark Meierhenry requested my assistance in developing the state's risk retention pool. This was created under enabling legislation referred to as the "Pepl Fund". Hagan Benefits worked closely with the Attorney General, Assistant State Attorney General, and the directors of the cities, counties and school boards of South Dakota to make this possible. Today these programs represent millions of dollars of surplus as a result of creating the self-funded insuring mechanisms in 1986. To this day, Hagan Benefits, Inc. still markets the program to South Dakota governmental entities |
